Unicorn Themed Tea Party
Gabriella turned FOUR this year! She decided she wanted a Unicorn Themed Tea Party to celebrate with just a few of her friends. It was definitely last minute in terms of planning, but we made it happen & it was the cutest EVER. Read on to see all the details from Gabi’s Unicorn Themed Tea Party!
First of all, how is this girl 4 now?! Time goes too fast!! It was a great birthday celebration & I loved seeing how happy she was to host a tea party for her friends.
Here’s a quick video of the decorations, if you want to see it in action:
Unicorn Themed Tea Party
A few years ago, I built an 8-foot kids’ art table & I knew it would be the perfect table for our party. First, I set up a white tablecloth from the dollar store– I had debated using a pink tablecloth (for some contrast with the “cloud” runner), but I wanted it to look dreamy & understated, so I stuck with all white. Next, I took Poly-fill & arranged it in bunches to look like a long cloud on top of the table runner.
After that, Gabi sprinkled iridescent white confetti glitter all over the cloud to add some shine. Inside the cloud, I placed star wands (from the dollar store) randomly sticking out the cloud. Last, I sprinkled star confetti all over the table, which matched perfectly with our color scheme.
My mother-in-law had this adorable pink tea set that was absolutely PERFECT for our tea party. The cups were nice & small so they were great for little hands. I kept the table pretty simple, so there was only a pink napkin & tea cup at each place setting.
Unicorn Sweets & Cake Table
For the backdrop, I started by temporarily hanging up Gabi’s curtain rod & net curtains that we got from IKEA a few years back. I knew I wanted a balloon garland arch to go over the table, so I was able to hide the curtain rod behind that. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how the balloon garland was going to go, but I love the way it turned out– I’ll have a separate post on how I made that soon.
This first birthday star garland from Hobby Lobby matched our color palette perfectly, so removed the “twinkle, twinkle, little 1” section & hung the strands from the curtain rod. I got two packs of those so I could also hang some strands from the ceiling.
The “LET’S PAR-TEA” garland was made with this striped pink flag banner & these white glitter alphabet stickers, both from Hobby Lobby. I decided to give the letters a nice “pop” by backing them with purple construction paper. The letters have a really pretty pearlescent shine to them & I love how they look with the rest of the setup.
Snacks & sweets on the table included:
- skittles, fruit snacks, starbursts, & jelly fruit squares
- moon, heart, & star marshmallow “wands”
- rice cereal treat squares
- confetti cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes
- pirate booty & popcorn in real tea cups
- fruit salad
I set up a few tea pots on the back of the table to add some height & interest to our setup. In between the plates and cake stands, I placed Poly-fill to look like clouds & sprinkled iridescent white confetti glitter to add some shine. I found unicorn stickers at the dollar store that I backed with pink paper & mounted on lollipop sticks to put randomly throughout the clouds.
For cake, we went with confetti cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes. I added my own sprinkles & topped it with a unicorn cupcake topper. I had the cakes displayed on pink cake stands from Hobby Lobby.
Unicorn Art Station
Ooly totally hooked us up with a ton of adorable art + craft supplies & we’re so grateful! I set up a table with pages from their unicorn coloring books, adorable star crayons & star gel pens.
In addition to the art table, I had another little station set up with rainbow sparkle markers (our new ooly fav!!), watercolor gel crayons, & unicorn erasable colored pencils. They used these supplies to color & decorate their own 3D inflatable unicorns. If you’re planning a unicorn party, I highly recommend checking out ooly’s full unicorn collection.
I found pink/blue/silver/gold metallic beads at the dollar store, along with iridescent pipe cleaners. The kids strung the beads on the pipe cleaners to make adorable bracelets.
I used our coat stand to hang up some princess dresses & crowns so the girls could play dress up. The gold crowns are from Amazon, I had them leftover from Gio’s Where the Wild Things Are Party The flower crowns were a DIY that I made for Gabi & I to wear in our family photos a few years ago.
Ooly came to the rescue again with adorable unicorn things for the gift bags we sent home with our friends. Unicorn themed notebooks, pencils, scented unicorn and rainbow erasers — come ON, how adorable are these things?! Thanks again, ooly!
