Beautiful Layered Bedding That Anyone Can Create

It was about time for us to update our bedding, so we partnered up with Standard Textile Home to show you tricks for a beautiful layered bedding that anyone can create! We got a complete set to properly layer our bedding, from bed sheets and pillowcases to duvets and blankets. Read on to find out exactly what you need to layer your bedding like a pro.

We prefer neutrals in our room, so we stuck with those tones for our bedding, but Standard Textile Home offers a variety of colors to match your style. This bedding collection was gifted to us in exchange for this post. As always, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Beautiful Layered Bedding That Anyone Can Create

1. Bedsheets

Bedsheets go first, and it’s up to you whether or not you’d like to use a top sheet. We usually don’t, but I added one this time and we’re actually going to keep it! It just feels a bit cozier while it’s still chilly here in the Chicago area. We went with the Percale Sheet Set in Aurora Stripe, with an extra set in Slate Stripe. The sheets are crisp but comfy, and that’s what I love about them. Here are some specs on this sheet set:

  • Accommodates mattress depths up to 16”
  • Features ‘foot of bed’ labels for ease of use
  • Set includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet and 2 pillowcases with envelope closure (Twin and Twin XL sets include 1 pillowcase)
  • Found in luxury hotels around the world

2. All Seasons Blanket

The first tip for layering bedding like a pro– use an all seasons blanket! The All Seasons Cotton Blanket is a lightweight blanket perfect for any time of the year. It’s 100% cotton with a classic textured pattern, and you layer this blanket right over your top sheets. It gives your bedding a bit of weight to make you feel extra cozy, and it’s something I think most people miss when it comes to layering bedding! We went with the color Natural, but they also offer Sapphire, Rock, and White.

3. Duvet

The Midweight Down Alternative Duvet Insert (Luxsoft) features a 7.5 inch box quilt design to keep the fill evenly distributed. There’s nothing more frustrating than a duvet insert that moves around inside the cover, so loops at each corner help secure the duvet in place. I personally love the weight of this duvet, it’s not too heavy and not too light!

The Percale Duvet Set is the perfect match for the duvet insert. It simplifies the laundry process since you can throw the cover in the wash instead of the whole duvet! The duvet cover has a hidden zipper closure at the bottom, along with ties in all of the corners to secure the insert. The set comes with the cover along with 2 shams to complete the look.

4. Pillows

One trick for how to layer bedding like a pro is using pillows– lots and lots of pillows! We used the pillow cases that came with the Percale Sheet Set and Duvet Set, but then you *have to* go in with some throw pillows to finish off the look. It’s an easy way to get fun and creative with your colors and designs. We stuck to neutrals, but you can incorporate different colors and textures for added interest. Pillows are like accessories for your bed!

5. Throw Blankets

Finally, my last tip for a pro-looking bed is adding some throw blankets. Like the pillows, they add color, texture, and interest to your bed. You can strategically place your throws to make it look more fancy or more relaxed, depending on the mood you’re going for. We went with the Cotton Knit Throw in Sesame and the Knit Throw in Beige. I like to lay the Cotton Knit Throw folded flat at the foot of the bed, then drape the Knit Throw over to corner for a more casual look.
